A report by the Chief Economist at the Ministry of Finance reveals a 55 percent plunge in the number of real estate transactions last April, compared with April last year. Only 4,001 homes were sold in April, a figure not seen since the beginning of the 2020s – if we take out April 3, the peak of the coronavirus crisis and the period of the first lockdown.

The data also show that while in the first three months of 2023 the sharp decline in sales rates was actually in high-demand areas in the center of the country, in April the gaps narrowed significantly.
