The City of the Doges sets up a system to combat mass tourism by imposing a tax of 5 euros on tourists who do not stay. The city's mayor Luigi Brugnaro returned to the implementation of the system from April 25 to May 5, then every weekend from May 11 to July 15, with the exception of the Italian national holiday.
“This is an experiment, and it is the first time that this has been done in the world,” he insisted. Several categories of people are excluded from the system and will not have to make any reservations or payments.
