Nespresso announces the arrival in Italy of the first collection of compostable paper-based coffee capsules. Made with 82% paper pulp through a high-precision forming process and proprietary technology, the capsules are provided with a thin biodegradable coating as a protective barrier against oxidation.

The novelty will be celebrated by Nespresso at Milan Design Week 2024 with an interactive installation that can be visited from 16 to 21 April 2024 designed by architects Alessandra Covini and Giovanni Bellotti of Studio Ossidiana. From May customers will be able to choose between aluminum capsules - an infinitely recyclable, which can be returned to over 180 collection points and eco-islands - and the new paper- based compostable capsules - can be sent directly to the domestic organic fraction. For each of the five new coffees, the best beans from different countries of origin have been selected by the Nesp espresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ program, active for over 20 years, and which involves over 150,000 farmers in 18 countries for a sustainable supply of coffee.
