A United Airlines flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco was forced to turn back mid-air. A broken toilet in the plane's lavatory overflowed and the entire contents of the waste collection tank flowed into the passenger cabin.
The pilot retraced his steps for several hours before returning to Frankfurt Airport. United has had a series of troubling incidents in recent weeks, including last Friday when several passengers on a flight from Tel Aviv to Newark were hospitalized after the plane lost a tire after takeoff. The passengers who were taken off the flight were given hotel rooms for the night.
