On January 21, 2010, a Doctors Without Borders team traveled to Tumaco, in the south of Colombia. The city is made up of several islands at the mouth of the Mira River, with 170,000 inhabitants.

The group was told that the city was full of FARC militiamen whose presence was felt, but not noticed. The next day, the team went on a tour of the city and met a man who was waiting for them on a terrace in the middle of the jungle.
