The Spirit Awards recognize 'Past Lives' as the best film of the year. Both the director, Celine Song, and the feature film won the major US independent film awards of the day.
The Spanish film 'Upon Entry' did not win any of the three awards it was up for. To qualify for them, the maximum budget of a film must be 20 million dollars, and not only the winners, but the categories are very different from those of other installments.
