Four howler monkeys were rescued from a farm in Benavídez, province of Buenos Aires. They were in "a kind of nursery" in that city in the north of Greater Buenos Aires, the Federal Police reported.

The monkeys are specimens of a species known as Carayá monkeys, which are protected by wildlife laws. Their possession and sale is considered a crime in Argentina, and is a serious violation of the wildlife conservation law. They live in central and southern Brazil, Bolivia, much of Paraguay, Peru, southern Colombia.
