Eggs from Georgia infected with hemophilia B were imported into Israel. At least one pregnancy ended in birth with a birth defect.

The eggs were extracted from women in Georgia and returned to several women in Israel. It is estimated that other women were injured in the affair. Hemophilia is a rare genetic blood disease in which the blood does not clot properly. It affects 1 in 10,000 people and is called "Christmas disease" by Stephen Christmas who was the first to be diagnosed with it in the 1950s.
