US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the coming days to discuss actions to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. He will hold talks with Saudi leaders on Wednesday in Jeddah before traveling to Cairo on Thursday for talks with Egyptian authorities.
Blinken wants to increase humanitarian aid to the Palestinian territory. He also wants to ensure a ceasefire and to increase aid to Gaza's civilian population, a State Department spokesman said. The talks are expected to last for up to two days.
