The European Union and the United States announced the opening of a maritime humanitarian corridor. A ship from the NGO Open Arms loaded with aid will reach Gaza from Cyprus, located some 370 km away.
The United States also announced the sending of a logistical support ship. The Israeli blockade and bombings have caused a humanitarian disaster. 1.7 million Palestinians had to flee their region. 2.2 million inhabitants are threatened with famine. The amount that was airdropped will do very little to alleviate hunger and malnutrition and will do nothing to slow famine.
