In 10 days, the value of the cage in the Central Market rose 150%. In some greengrocers the kilo reached 10,000 pesos.

They claim that the latest rains ruined a production that had already been difficult since the summer. With these prices, today a kilo of lettuce costs as much as akilo of roast (6,000 Pesos in some places) and more than what cherries, one of the most expensive fruits, cost in season. "This is supply and demand. If there is little product, the price goes up. There is no other way out of this," says agronomist Oscar Liverotti.
