Sebastian Fitzek is one of the most widely read thriller authors in Germany. With "Elternabend" he presents another non-thriller.

A lot of his own work has been incorporated into the novel. Fitzek's own experiences of parents' evenings, which certain parents never attend, were taken favorably for his story. The book should by no means be understood as a pure comedy, as the book also deals with topics such as suicide and depression. The dialogues and the sometimes exaggerated characters are convincing.
