The head of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, described as "laughable" these leaks of the US intelligence services relayed by the Washington Post. The accusation seemed serious enough that the days of "Putin's cook" were numbered.

It was brushed aside by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who called it "intox" "Unfortunately even this respected publication has allowed itself to publish such hoaxes in recent years," Peskov said. The highly respected American daily reported on Sunday that Prig Rozhin had offered Ukrainian intelligence, on several occasions, to provide him with information on the location of Russian units.
