Millions of Syrian refugees have become one of the key issues in Turkey's election campaign. President Erdogan defends their presence in the country, the opposition calls for action to return them to their country.

"It is impossible for us to return there, Assad and his regime are murdering hundreds of thousands," a Syrian refugee tells Israel Hayom. The economic crisis, exacerbated by the earthquake disaster and a growing fear of an "Arab invasion" made the refugees unwelcome among large segments of the Turkish population.
