Four children, aged four, nine and 13, as well as an eleven-month-old infant, are said to have survived for more than two weeks in the dense jungle. The children's mother, the pilot and an indigenous leader were killed in the accident.

Armed forces have recently found new evidence that at least one of the children survived. There are indications such as the provisionally built shelter that the children are alive. However, it is unclear where they are at this point in time.
