Austrian actor Peter Simonischek has died at the age of 76. Known to many as Winfried in Toni Erdmann.
The Burgtheater star shone on the international stage and is known to theatre lovers as well as TV audiences. He received the European Film Award (2016) as Best Actor for his role – the first Austrian actor to do so. He dropped out of his training as a dental technician and secretly applied to study acting at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Graz.
