A 73-year-old inmate was found hanged this Tuesday in a cell at the Epinal remand center (Vosges) The detainee was placed in pre-trial detention on March 28. He was indicted for acts of rape, fraud and abuse of weakness.
Two other inmates, aged 23 and 38, had already killed themselves at the center in February. In 2022, 125 incarcerated people died by suicide in France, according to the International Prison Observatory.. 281 men were imprisoned on February 1 in this establishment which has 298 places.
