From January 1, 2025, crossing the structure will cost 4 euros in low season compared to 8 euros currently. To compensate for the lower revenue linked to this drop in winter prices, the department has also switched the Pentecost and Ascension weekends to high season.

Carers and family supports will be charged 2 euros per passage when they cross the toll. In 2023, the bridge generated nearly 15.3 million euros in revenue. Two-thirds of this sum is allocated to the Retaise eco-tax and makes it possible in particular to finance actions for the environment. The remaining third is paid to the department and is used to maintain the structure, the toll and its surroundings. The work cost 9.77 million euros last year and could reach 10.5 million euros by 2024. The bridge was inaugurated in 1988 and is located on the Ile de Ré in Charente-Maritime, in the south of France. The departmental council has also adopted a “single rate” for all employees working on the Ile de Ré: 50 euro cents per passage.
