Minister of Transport and former mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente (PSOE), announced this Thursday his proposal to name the new AVE station in the hometown of the actress and singer Concha Velasco. Puente has attached this proposal to the policy of naming large infrastructures, such as Atocha-Almudena Grandes and Chamartín-Clara Campoamor, with illustrious female names.

The artist, who died last December at the age of 84, became a cultural reference in her hometown and throughout Spain, as demonstrated during her tributes after her death. She received a Goya of Honor, the medal of merit for Fine Arts, the National Theater Award or, in her house, the Spike of Honor from the VallADolid Seminci festival. The new Valladolis AVE. station will modernize a trunk communications axis between the center of the Peninsula with the northern regions, both to the east and west.
