On June 10, 1944, the SS Das Reich division shot and burned 643 inhabitants in Oradour-sur-Glane (Haute-Vienne), including 205 children. 80 years later, the kindergarten and elementary school students of the “New Ordour’, built post-war period next to the ruins of the martyred village, gave life, on March 22, to a memorial forest made up of 205 pedunculate oaks, swamp oaks and Scots pines.

The State invests 400,000 euros each year to maintain the ruins which, with the wear and tear of time, collapse.
