Erwin Krauthauf founded the sponsoring association of the Pfaffenwinkel Music School 20 years ago. He has led it since then and has now stepped down after 20 years in office.
He was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2004. He brought the community of Peiting into the music school's support. He also worked tirelessly on behalf of the institution and repeatedly emphasized the importance of the school to the community. He is an honorary member of Austrian brass and factory bands.
