Brenner dispute between Italy and Austria escalates – Germany benefits. Italy is turning to the EU Commission, but definitely wants to sue.

The first hearing will take place before the European Commission on Monday, April 8th. The restrictions imposed by Austria on truck traffic over the Brenner route are “unacceptable and untenable because they block the main axis between the north and south of Europe”. “Chaos, traffic, pollution, traffic jams” and ‘unfair competition’ are the result. If the lawsuit is successful: Austria must also end processing at the German border.
