Mirko Windhorst from Cornau has more than 300 tomato varieties. He offers seedlings of more than 120 of his tomato varieties as well as 30 types of chilies and 13 types of peppers directly on Bundesstraße 51 in Cornau.

The self-employed gardener and landscaper reveals when the best time is to plant and what needs to be taken into account when caring for tomato plants. The Cornauer travels to the weekly market in Bremen twice a week and regularly visits plant markets. From April 13th, customers can choose plants in the tunnel-shaped greenhouse between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., take them with them and pay for them themselves. The young seedlings, which come from Central America, cannot withstand frost and should be planted after the Ice Saints (editor's note: this year's Ice Saints are May 11th to 15th) The varieties sometimes differ greatly from one another and there are special ones for outdoors, greenhouses or even balconies. There are even dwarf tomatoes that can grow on a table.
