A new study from the USA provides initial data for the treatment of a very aggressive brain tumor. The results show a “dramatic and rapid” regression of glioblastoma after so-called CAR-T therapy with a new approach.

The treatment method was tested on humans for the first time. In a next step, the research team is considering “serial infusions” of CAR-TEAM cells over a longer period of time. The study was published in The New England Journal of Medicine, but it has not yet been completed. In an interview with IPPEN.MEDIA, Prof. Dr. Stephanie Combs from the University Hospital Rechts der Isar explains the results in more detail. The detailed results of the study seem promising, although they are different in all three cases. The next step is to test the treatment on other types of brain tumors, such as glooblastomas, which are very aggressive and difficult to treat.
