Around 30 F-16 jets appear on the horizon: Greece wants to get rid of the classic aircraft. In Ukraine, frustration is growing over hesitant deliveries.

Kiev has long sought Western fighter jets to bolster its ability to compete with Russia's superior fleet. Greece had already received the first of a total of 40 F- 16 Block 30s it had ordered at the end of the 1980s. The jet is still produced in the USA and is constantly being improved. The first Block 30-16, used by Greece, entered service in 1987. From September 1991 onwards, the types were equipped with larger engine intakes for increased air thrust. One of the main innovations of this type of jet is the AGM-45 Shrike Shrike armament of the AG-M88 HARM and AG-88 Shrike A-120 missiles, which were put into service in September 1991. The Pentagon expects the F-15 to be operational in Ukraine before the year's end, and the F16 before 2024.
