Rachid M., 53, was sentenced this Monday to four years and six months in prison, including one year suspended on probation. The man came very close to death on the night of August 21 to 22, 2022.
He will make a first stay in a psychiatric hospital because, in addition to massive alcohol consumption, the man suffers from disorders which can push him into violent behavior that is not at all controlled. “It was a horror scene, he thought he was going to die,” underlines Me Carine Barba-Stelmach, the victim’s lawyer. He takes 19 pills per day, more than half of which are linked to his psychiatric state, and will have to undergo treatment upon his release from prison. The judge recognized a partial impairment of his judgment and sentenced him to a sentence of four years, six months, including a suspended probationary period. The victim retains a more precise memory of this disastrous evening. He says: “I told him to be quiet because I was working the next day and I went back to my room”
