A priest accidentally protected 300-year-old frescoes repainted in his church on the Spanish island of Tenerife. The tragedy sparked the anger of the local population and an investigation by the government of the Canary Islands.

The local religious brotherhood demanded the replacement of Héctor Lunar as priest and denounced the facts to the town hall so that measures could be taken. The news quickly made the rounds in the Spanish media, which did not hesitate to compare the event with the restoration of a fresco of Christ in Borja, in 2012.
