Gambia is one of the smallest and most densely populated countries in Africa. Tens of thousands of Dutch visit the tiny country on the west African coast every year.

The sex tourism that attracts some of the European visitors to The Gambia is becoming increasingly bothersome to Gambians. Politicians have put forward some plans to attract what they call “quality tourists” to the Gambia, such as the subsidized construction of eco-lodges. But these initiatives “have so far come to nothing,” says musician Ali Cham.
