Russian government has allocated a budget of more than a billion euros for information control, according to a number of documents disclosed by the Estonian media Delfi. The Kremlin is said to have set up a major propaganda network for its population as well as solid control of information as part of its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

“This is all part of a broader trend that Russia is becoming a totalitarian society,” says Martin Kragh, deputy director of the Center for East European Studies in Stockholm.
