The world has not yet entered a new era of Cold War, but it seems more and more inevitable. The conflict in Ukraine brings the West together behind kyiv, to try to stop Russian aggression.
Displaying its “neutrality”, Beijing in reality supports Moscow by all means, except overtly military. And the antagonisms are increasingly strong between Western liberal democracies and the world of autocrats led by the Chinese superpower. This year, Paris is celebrating sixty years of its diplomatic relations with communist China. But despite the incantations glorifying Franco-Chinese friendship or the “win-win” relationship between the two countries, in reality it is not time for celebration. Because, paradoxically, the West, first and foremost France and the United States, which were the first great powers, are still at the top of the list of the world's most powerful nations. The West is still the most powerful nation in the world, followed by the U.S.
