Even traffic light state ministers want to delay the cannabis law. “Unlawful conditions and compensation obligations will inevitably arise across the country,” says Lower Saxony's Justice Minister Kathrin Wahlmann.

Cannabis will become legal in Germany on April 1, 2024. According to the law, consumption and possession of cannabis of up to 25 grams should be permitted in the future, but only for adults. Up to 50 grams and three plants are permitted for home, provided the home is protected from access by minors.
