A half-timbered house with a wood turnery workshop burned down in the Nothfelden district of Wolfhagen in the large fire early on Wednesday morning. Two residents, aged 64 and 58, who were sleeping in the house at the time of the fire, were able to leave the building in time.

The police estimate the damage to be at least 500,000 euros. The extinguishing work was not yet finished in the afternoon. The Nohfelden through town will remain closed until Thursday morning. The fire department was alerted at 3:13 a.m. and numerous emergency services have been on site since then. In addition to the church, there is also a farm with pigs, cows and straw storage. It was not possible to enter the scene of the accident for a long time because the fire flared up repeatedly. The high heat radiation posed a danger to the neighboring buildings. Around 140 firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the surrounding dense buildings in Nothfielden's town center.
