Two pygmy marmosets were born at Telford Exotic Zoo, UK. The monkeys' father, named Hook, was taken to the mother Robyn's enclosure for mating some time before.

Pygmy Marmosets, native to the Amazon basin, are threatened in the wild due to the reduction in the size of their natural habitat. On February 13, a French zoo also had the chance to welcome two pyg my marmoset in the Romagne animal park, reports the daily La Nouvelle République. The park has two litters of twins per year. Conversely, the park welcomed the birth of saïmiris in 2023. This was the first twin birth in Europe. The gestation period ofmarmosets is 4 months. With a size of 3 cm at birth and 15 cm as adults, pygMy marmoshes are among the smallest mammals in the world. The zoo applies a “non-intervention” policy with regard to the monkeys.
