The Sancho case chronicles the investigation into the death and dismemberment of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta, 44, and the arrest of Daniel Sancho, 29. The first chapter of the HBO Max documentary focuses on the story of his father, the actor Rodolfo Sancho.

“Our goal is to document the entire process, from when the facts were known to the sentencing, taking into account the tremendous pain that this event has caused in so many people,” says Margarita Luis, director of the series and executive producer of Quartz. The three remaining chapters can be seen throughout 2024, when there is a judicial resolution, as reported by the platform. The story is supported by the testimony of journalist Carlos Quilez, who explains the powerful attraction that this crime has exerted, although in this first installment the investigation is not delved into. Only a couple of statements from police commanders are reproduced in a confusing press conference, which already showed the great differences in the way of communicating the results of an investigation with respect to Spain.
