From June to November a "supercharged" season of at least 25 storms, with about ten hurricanes, is preparing. Last hurricane season saw 19 named storms, but only four with direct impact on the United States.

Hurricane Idalia, which hit Florida as a powerful Category 3 hurricane in late August, was the worst. Tropical storm Harold instead flooded southern Texas, while Ophelia hit North Carolina. Tropical Storm Lee hit the coast of New England before making landfall in Nova Scotia, Canada.
