Since the beginning of the new year alone, there have been at least seven deaths related to the virus, it said. The disease is one of the main causes of death for children globally. Younger people aged up to five years are particularly affected. A high vaccination rate of 95 percent of the population is essential to prevent transmission in a country or community.
