A 250-kilo bomb from the Second World War explodes in the port of La Rochelle. The accident took place on January 29 during the dredging of the Grand Port Maritime.

The explosion of 120 kilos of explosives only caused material damage. The bomb could weigh “500 pounds, or 250 kilos” based on “the crack observed on the sling of the dredge” and the “vibrations felt up to ‘at the captaincy' at the time of the explosion’
