Max Brunel, a nonagenarian from Lunel (Hérault), received a letter at the end of March announcing that he had died on December 27. The missive sent by the hospital also summons him to come and collect his belongings himself.

The former cinema operator reassured his acquaintances, telling them that he was doing well. He quickly contacted the Finance Department of the CHU with the help of a friend to clarify that he is alive. The matter ended well for Max because the matter did not go any further, and remained without consequences for his retirement pension, his bank account or other administrative services: “If my bank account had been blocked, I really would have died there,” he tells our colleagues   The lawyers have enough work for me to add to it, especially for a peccadillo, they have done me no harm,’ says the retiree, who expresses himself without the slightest sign of resentment. He did not receive an apology from the hospital however.
