A bill to ban TikTok in the US advances in Congress and the social network launches an offensive to prevent it. TikTok sent notifications to some users to call their representatives and urge them to vote with a measure that would force the network to stop being Chinese or be banned.

The measure was approved unanimously by the Commerce and Energy Committee, and will now be submitted to the Plenary Session of the House. The bill would give the president the power, through the FBI and other intelligence agencies, to classify certain social media applications as threats to national security.
