The body of a 40-year-old man was recovered Sunday evening by the Saint-Nazaire nautical team. Examinations are underway to verify his identity as well as the circumstances of his death.

Last month, a previous body was discovered in the department, on the banks of the Loire. The body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, belonged to a person who had thrown himself from the Cheviré bridge in Nantes. It was floating a kilometer from the coast of Loire-Atlantique. The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined by the authorities. It is believed that the body was found by a boater off Pornichet, near the French island of Lourdes. It has been identified as that of a man, according to the departmental fire and rescue operational center. The cause of death is not yet known, but is believed to have been caused by blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
