The 139th Nice carnival began on Saturday with a grand opening parade bringing together some of the parade floats around the King and Queen. The carnival will end on March 2 with the cremation at sea of a wooden replica of His Majesty the King.

This year 200,000 spectators are expected in the streets of the city for this carnival, one of the most famous in the world alongside those of Rio and Venice. After the Covid-19 health crisis which shortened the 2020 edition, prevented that of 2021 and reduced the gauge of that of 2022, the Nice Carnival returned to normal capacity last year.
