The 41-year-old guard is stationed in the semi-liberty district (QSL) of Villejuif, which depends on the Fresnes penitentiary center. He had already been sentenced in 2018 by the Paris Court of Appeal to a 10-month suspended prison sentence and a four-month public employment ban for violence against a Fresnes inmate in 2015.
According to the court ruling, the guard had shown a "lack of self-control" by slapping and grabbing a detainee in his cell by the throat.
