Monica Laso took the gondola at a South Lake Tahoe resort to travel to the foot of the mountain. But the device stopped working on the journey, leaving her stranded all morning.

“I screamed desperately until I lost my voice,” Laso said. Heavenly Mountain Resort staff are investigating what happened, said Tom Fortune, its vice president and chief operating officer. The resort wants to get to the bottom of the incident, Fortune said in a statement: “We are investigating this situation with the utmost seriousness”
