The Mujahideen Brigades organization is a small and extremist faction operating in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. It split in the past from Fatah's military wing, the Halli-Aqsa Brigades, and adopted a religious ideology.
In 2012, the Shin Bet revealed that prisoners of the organization in Israel had planned a kidnapping attack as a bargaining chip for their release. The family said after the publication of the documentation: "These videos tear our hearts apart. Kidnapping children is a crime against humanity and a war crime"
