Switzerland is organizing a conference on "peace in Ukraine" on June 15 and 16. The conference will take place near Lucerne, in the Bürgenstock hotel complex.

Around 120 countries will be invited, and the United States has confirmed their participation. Russian diplomacy quickly criticized the event. “The elections are their everything, Ukraine is nothing,” insisted Maria Zakharova, accusing democratic leaders, by supporting kyiv against Moscow, of “endangering thousands of Ukrainians”. The Republican camp of Donald Trump - candidate against outgoing Democratic President Joe Biden - has for months blocked the military aid that kyav sorely needs. The Swiss government has examined, through direct contacts with numerous states, the possibilities and paths that could lead to a peace process. Switzerland notably held talks with members of the G7, with the EU as well as with representatives of countries such as China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia. “A peace process cannot be made without Russia, even if it will not be there during the first meeting", insisted Ignazio Cassis.
