The second Suffren-class submersible was admitted to active service on 4 April. It is the second of the Suffren class, resulting from the Barracuda program.

The third, called Tourville, and whose commissioning took place last March, will join by the end of 2024. The Duguay-Trouin succeeds the Rubis, which will be dismantled in Cherbourg. In total, six Suffen-class submarines will be deployed by 2030, the Ministry of the Armed Forces says.
