Major floods in Vienne and Creuse were caused by very heavy rains in recent days. The end of winter and the beginning of spring were very wet in many regions of the country.

“Following severe bad weather, Creuse, Gartempe and Vienne reached exceptional height peaks linked to rainfall of 100 mm in two days, the equivalent of two months of rain,” the Vienne prefecture indicated on Sunday. The Armançon river, straddling the Côte d'Or and the Yonne, was in turn placed on red alert.
