A heavy goods vehicle caught fire on Italy's main north-south AI motorway two kilometers from Arezzo in Tuscany leading to tailbacks of up to 11 kilometers Friday. The accident occurred shortly before 4 pm on the A1Milan-Naples motorway at km 357, between the Arezzo and Valdarnotoll booths.

There are also difficulties in moving on the alternative roadnetwork that has gone haywire due to the numerous cars that have exited at Arezzo. No injuries have been reported at the moment, but traffic is currently blocked on the closed section of the motorway, with 11 km of traffic jams towards Rome and one km of Traffic jams towards Florence. The fire has been put out, and the road is expected to be fully operational by the end of the day, according to the Italian Ministry of the Interior, which is in charge of traffic control on the motorways in the region. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it is believed to have been caused by an overheated vehicle.
