Actor Peter Sodann is dead. He died at the age of 87 in Halle an der Saale, as his family announced.

Sodann became known nationwide above all as the somewhat grumpy Chief Inspector Bruno Ehrlicher in “Tatort”, which he played from 1992 to 2007. He spent nine months in prison in the GDR, and later the Stasi spied on him. In 2009, he ran as a left-wing candidate for the election of Federal President. This earned him admiration from fans, but also a lot of shaking of the head - because of public statements about wanting to build "socialism"
