Actress Vera Chekhova dies at the age of 83. The great-grandniece of the playwright Anton Chekhov was successful as an actress for decades.

In her decades-long film and television career, she appeared in almost 100 roles. She received the Federal Film Prize in 1962 for the Böll film adaptation “The Bread of the Early Years’. The audience also knows her from films such as “Time of Sensitivity”, “Rausch der Verwandlung” and “Ein Fall für zwei”
